1951: Lock Out vs Lock Down

March 28, 2020

By AHNZ

Labour 6.0 have resolved to respond to the COVID virus with central planning and emergency powers. Interesting to look back to the last time this happened (apart from 2011 quakes) which was with National 1.0 in 1951…

“Otago University law professor Andrew Geddis says with the Government’s declaration of a state of emergency and issue of a COVID-19 epidemic notice, it has “taken on powers that haven’t been seen since the 1951 waterfront dispute”.”- Government’s COVID-19 emergency powers compared to 1951 ‘waterfront dispute’; Newshub

PM Holland’s
virus was an outbreak of striking sea-freight handlers who held the nation to ransom. PM Ardern’s rebels are citizens who she doesn’t trust to remain hygienic or to not over-react by panic buying. Holland responded after 151 days (or more) while Ardern put the hammer down within days- she gave no chance for her target population to respond reasonably before issuing a detainment/Lockdown order. (Actually, life seemed to be calming and going quite well after COVID had been recognised but then went nuts again in response to the Lockdown.)

Holland deployed the police and army to replace the Locked Out workers, Ardern has begun to do the same to her Locked Down citizens. We’re not to meet as communities, arm ourselves, hunt, range in our own territory, or conduct any economic activity not approved as ‘essential’ by The State.

Another similarity is that both Holland and Ardern have a K-selected population to rule over, specifically an Honour Culture. Mainstream New Zealand will, therefore, approve of the authoritarian Prime Minister now just as they did in the past for Holland. The Draconian of 1951 stalled the opening of parliament and then gained retrospective House approval for his measures. Next, he had parliament dissolved entirely and called a snap election which rewarded National 1.0 and shredded his Opposition.

Ardern rose to power as Queen of Victimhood Culture and has held a shaky authority¹ over Slave Culture. For example, mass protests have broken out in the streets and the malls and occupation at Ihumatao; The VC PM had to stay her truncheons or else bring her VC credentials to an end. The PM’s authoritarian conduct lately show that Ardern and her team will do just fine as Honour Culture rulers now that this is the era we are passing into. Those Slave Culture problems are easy to solve now, with Police force if required, under the pretence of the virus.

Like Holland before her, we can expect the next General Election to be held back or sped up to accommodate Ardern’s preferred timeline. As before, the target population will be subdued and the police/military utilised to make damn sure of it. When the time is right there will be another electoral landslide victory for the Prime Minister who acts like the Big Chief in a time of (real or imagined) crisis.
Lockout or Lockdown, history is indeed repeating. This power was laying about the place thanks to a fused, state-addicted, population. It was only a matter of a politician coming along to reach out and pick it up off the ground and wield it. The K-selected 2020s are well under way now!
1. “Pania Newton deliberately tore up the trespass notice served on her. If the Police removed her, she would slink back to Ihumatao. If they arrested her, it would be a publicity dream come true of Bastille Day proportions making the girl internationally famous and an historic figure. That is why the law cannot touch her; The VC is too strong in this current era; Powered by SC.”- Storm Ihumatao, Storm St Lukes MallNZB3

Update 18/August/2020: I was sure Labour 6.0 would jigger the election date to suit themselves but I think they set it up wrong. I can’t imagine they can sustain the second Lockdown’s popular support long enough to win election 2020. National 6.0 will be the new government, in my opinion, this year.

Update 2022: To the shame of my imagination and credulity it is 2022 and Lockdowns and Mandates are still with us therefore so is Labour 5.0! How can New Zealand put up with this? On the other hand, masses of people are protesting in the streets with unity toward the idea that enough is enough. This includes permanent camps in parliament’s grounds.
