The State, in the 1930s, began instructing New Zealand farmers to use spray-on weed killer. A side-effect was that it made farmer’s clothing explode.
The story of the 1930s New Zealand exploding farmer pants has been retold many times since Watson first broke the story. Mythbusters, in 2006, even tried to replicate the situation. AHNZ knows who wore the pants in this situation and that the responsibility belongs to Prime Minister Forbes and his advisor Mr Deem.
