1843: Woke White Woman Cancels Wairau Affray
March 17, 2023
By AHNZ
It has now been 180 years since the Wairau Affray between Colonial lawmen and Maori tribesmen. After showing superior fighting ability victory went to Chiefs Rauparaha and Te Rangihaeata of Ngati Toa and was followed up immediately by the Wairau Massacre. In this, the 180th year, this long-standing knowledge has been redacted from the information panel on the Interisland Ferry. Ref. Passenger complains of racist narrative on Interislander information boards, Stuff (13 March 2023)
Cool Captain Arther Wakefield and fiery Magistrate Thompson were the law. They set out to apprehend the offending party and bring them to justice. Their judicial role was complicated by the fact that they were also members of the party injured by the Maori occupiers. However, the Ngati Toa warriors had no inclination to wear Thompson’s handcuffs and have this matter settled back in a Nelson court. The two task forces faced off over either side of the Tuamarina Stream and the conflict ended in blood in one of the great markers of our Crown Colonial history. Ref. 1843: The Wairau Affray, AHNZ
Although this basic history has been in the fine print of one of the Cook Straight ferry information panels it took Laura Quin Ogle to have it struck from the record. The government’s inter-island ferry company has enough mechanical and service problems to deal with right now so, according to the radio news, they’ve simply removed the map from the wall entirely. Who is this Laura woman anyway and was she right to have this history cancelled by making national headlines?
Victimhood Culture Keyboard Warrior
Laura Quin Ogle, a customer of Interislander, took to Twitter and then Stuff news to fight her brave and stunning Social Justice Warrior battle. This show right away that Ogle belongs to the Victimhood Culture. She’s the sort of person who gets their needs met not by doing things but by complaining and irritating others she considers powerful in order that they give her what she wants. Ref. Moral Cultures, AHNZ
According to Twitter she “Went on two domestic flights today… we were the only people wearing masks…I’m more lax with masking than is probably ideal but wow.” So, as you can see, she’s a die-hard Victimhood Culture member so deep into the COVID mask hoax that she hasn’t been able to move on even by March 2023!
The Stuff article has several cliche conversation markers that also indicate a Woke Warrior. Rather than offer criticisms she slings SJW muck phrases such as “Pretty Problematic,” “A Yuck Thing,” “Once we know better, we do better,” and “ridiculous.” Laura Tweeted out these sentiments like blood in the water then watched the Mob come out to massace the memory of the Wairau victims all over again.
“Feminist, unionist, left-wing, pro-choice, anti-violence, cis-gender, disabled, EDS, ADHD, Pākehā, pro-reindigenisation, Nō Aotearoa. Kōrero Māori mai! She/her.” – Laura Quin, Twitter bio
“Laura Quin and her husband discovered what they felt was “pretty problematic” content on the maps showing the route between Te Waipounamu and Te-Ika-a-Māui – the South Island and North Island – during a recent crossing.” – Stuff, ibid
“Quin says the role of all New Zealanders is to lift up the Māori language and the Māori world. “Racism is rife in New Zealand,” says Quin”” – Non-Māori mother takes up Mahuru Māori for children, Te Ao Maori News (2018)
“Quin is Pākehā from Waikato, her whānau kōrero Māori, and her children attend kura kaupapa. She said she was using her white privilege to be an ally for Māori, and she believed phrasing mattered.” – Stuff, ibid
Certainly yet another case of White Saviourism. This all-white couple and their all-white children don’t seem to believe in Maori for Maoris. Rather than trust or even believe that Maoris can live and support their own culture….they need Laura! To be fair, her husband and the kids (and their Maori cat) probably did not choose this fight at all but never knew they had a choice.
Laura’s Social Justice Attack
It doesn’t take much these days to bring down historical knowledge. It’s enough for it to be ‘Politically Incorrect’ or ‘Feel Yuck’ and nobody will defend it. Especially not Woke Capital, such as the ferry company, that only wants bad press to go away not stand up for anything…
LQO: Hey @interislander … we noticed some pretty problematic (ahem, racist) stuff on your map during our crossing tonight. Shall I share some of it? 1/?
Victimhood Culture LOVE finding opression and racism. It’s an Olympic event to be outraged and at this point there isn’t much left to be found so they really have to look hard down the back of the sofa. Hate Crimes became Hate Speech, Aggression became Microaggression. In this case Laura squinted into the fine print of a map and found something to give her a dopaminergic hit! You bet she’s going to Tweet that…
LQO: “…wholesale slaughter and cannibal feasting …. Unfortunate confrontation between Ngāti Toa and […] Wakefield [wasn’t he that paedophile kidnapper?] … subsequently dispatched by tomahawk”. 2/?
No, Captain Arther Wakefield was a well-liked and upstanding young man not a paedophile kidnapper.
As for pointing out that Ngati Toa were responsible for wholesale slaughter and cannibal feasting…they absolutely were! They put of macarbe displays of all the dismembered bodies they carried back to their fortress from the South Island. It just seems that Laura doesn’t like history to remember this.
People who have been indoctrinated with Maori propaganda also think they’re clever for repeating what they’ve been told about tomahawks. “Even the word tomahawk. We are not in America,” she says. But our Colonial ancestors did use this term to refer to a hand axe. English is made up of words from all over. It’s a strange thing to object to but it comes up constantly.
LQO: There appears to be a bit of a negative view towards Ngai Tahu/ Kai Tahu here…
Responding to the text stating that Ngati Mamoe, Ngati Tara, and Ragitane had a peaceful presence in the South Island before the warlike Ngati Tahu invaded around 1650. Note that instead of disputing these known facts Laura drops the Victimhood Culture sentimental ‘a bit negative’ and ‘appears’ to do the work for her. It’s Politically Incorrect, you see, to know that the Ngai Tahu were warrior invaders. Down with the information panel!
LQO: Oh boy. Captain Cook. “All 10 were ambushed, killed and eaten by local Maori [sic].” No mention about the impact Cook and his men had.
Not OK to mention the 1773 ambush of Cook’s men while gathering ant-scurvy medicine and the canabalism of 10. Not OK unless there’s also some Woke deflection included about what bad men they were and that they had it coming?
And, of course, New Zealand English must be redacted and replaced by non-plural forms because there is no ‘s’ in the Maori language! She’ll go on mentioning that every time she sees it. Ref. There is no letter ‘s’ in the Maori language, AHNZ
LQO: “The origin and meaning of the Maori [sic] name are obscure”. I mean … who did you ask? The origins and meanings of whakapapa Māori are seldom unknown.
Yeah, historians, what do you know? The truth is that we do not know where the name Raukawa from for Cook Straight and that may be because it came from an earlier people before Maori invasions. It may be that some Maoris in recent decades think they know or have worked it out (probably not) but Laura is already falling over herself to assume they have it all worked out and she priviliges this interpretation. So much so that she’s already chastising the author of the panel for being uninformed!
LQO: Anyway. I think you really should get a cultural advisory team to look at this. What a yuck thing to put your name against.
Fake concern for the ferry’s reputation and trying to hook up some Maoris with a highly paid consulting job to engratiate herself to them.
“This is rife in Aotearoa, and we need to fix it…we’re displaying to manuhiri just how racist we are as a country…She felt the narrative was trying to make Māori sound like savages… there was eating of other people, but we don’t talk about cannibalism. “
Maoris were savages. There is no such place as Aotearoa. We are not racist as a country. Not talking about historical facts because of how you feel will not change the past.
“There’s bound to be stories that are way cooler than that.”
It’s a very lazy brand of Victimhood Culture from Laura. She doesn’t know where ‘Raukawa’ comes from either but admitting that is bad. She doesn’t know any ‘cooler’ stories either but anyone not finding them and telling them is also bad. She doesn’t just privilige Maori storytelling she elevates assumed/imaginary Maori narratives for which she has no evidence and blames others for not doing the same.

A well-justified fisking. Some of it I already knew when I read the news report, so rolled my eyes and thought ‘woke on steroids. The Twitter bio is a gem.
Bit of a pattern. It’s been pointed out to me that people who ID as EDS frequently seem to have a projected self-hate at the expense of the rest of us.
