1877: The Education Act

July 2, 2019

By AHNZ

Things were going fairly well in New Zealand. Well, we couldn’t have that could we? So, the 1877 Education Act seized schools for The State. Compulsory and free and secular education, they say. As usual, the words mainstream history consider validating are the same ones Anarchist History identifies as evil incarnate!

“It was free only in so far as weekly fees were abolished; the Act made all taxpayers responsible for all children. Instead of being free, educaion became costlier than ever.”- Ian and Alan Commings (1978)

Ever since, it’s been this this this…

The law came into force 29 November, 1877

Note: Child Labor never went away. It just became clerical.
