1918: Government Placebos for Influenza

New Zealand’s 1918 Influenza Plague, above all, was a result of the expanded State.
Having been conditioned to unprecedented centralised control for The Great War the people submitted to going along with being led by the inept.
This Blomfield cartoon shows the hapless victim precariously at the mercy of Government placebos while private Citizens Committees run about uselessly.
