1981: Tip Top Zorro

Tip Top new how to make exciting novelty ice creams back in the 1980s. This one was ‘Zorro’ and as you can see from the picture it’s a fairly complex construction of ice cream architecture. Yet at 8 cents each it goes to show how well our government monetary control is doing at handling inflation! In 2023 a far simpler Tip Top product (eg. Rocky Road) cost $3.20. An ice cream (a hell of an ice cream, too) was 2.5% the cost of what we pay!?

This ice cream may have gone with a children’s cartoon I can just remember from 1981: The New Adventures of Zorro. However, other sources suggest it was early into the 1970s. Ref. Wiki

About the same time there was also an Incredible Hulk ice cream and a Pac Man one that had a taste I can’t forget and have never experienced since. The 1980s Hulk produce is down at 20 cents so that does suggest the 8 cent Zorro belonged to a few years earlier.

Still, the value is amazing. More than this, in each case of Hulk and Zorro the ice cream came with a sticker too!
