1986: I Came, I saw, I Concorde

By AHNZ

Today in history, 6 April, 1986, concord came to New Zealand. The pilot was Captain J. Cook! (John Cook.)
Palmerston North businessman Kenneth Irons set the visit up in this KZ7 Honour Culture era. His plans for a fly-over were to feature Foxton first of all but to the disappointment of all they were cut out at the last moment. Australian ‘environementalists’ forced a delay in the the supersonic plane’s flightplan that had to be made up at Foxton’s expense. However, other towns and cities were thrilled.

“When the Concorde arrived in Auckland, Kenneth was joined at the side of the runway by prime minister David Lange, Auckland mayor Cath Tizard and Minister of Tourism Mike Moore. The pilot (Captain John Cook) flicked the afterburners on and nearly singed their eyebrows – four times – and used ten tonnes of fuel just flying over Auckland, Kenneth says. Then there was the astounding noise: “it was very much noise pollution”. But those were different times, he says.” – The first Kiwi flight of a Concorde, RNZ (2020)

“The plane, on an historic world trip, was to fly from Perth to Auckland but, in the process fly low over Palmerston North and Foxton. Environmentalists in Perth, Australia, argued that it was too noisy and broke noise abatement regulations. As a result, the jet – able to travel at twice the speed of sound – left Perth later in the day and Foxton was left off the flight plan.” – Flashback: The sausages were ready for sizzlin’ when Concorde came to town, Stuff (2016)

New Zealand Honor Culture eras are spectacularly energetic years for our country. We feel our muscles and accomplish energetic feats of greatness. We push behind us sentiments of servility and start transitioning into a period of High Civilisation powered by Dignity Culture. The prior 5 year era of Muldoonist Slave Culture was not felt by Kiwis who spent their Sunday on April 6th celebrating expensive noisy international displays of power and endeavor. “Concorde’s visit had been heralded by a series of British Airways newspaper advertisements, using the copy-line: “I came, I saw, I Concorde.”” recorded British Airways News in 1986. An Honour Culture time period is indeed the stuff of James Cook and Julius Caesar.

We were quickly coming up on the Krypton Factor Dignity Culture time period characterised by such high-level technology as the Concorde. Evidently the cultural clock in Perth was running slow compared to New Zealand to have had enough Slave and/or Victimhood Culture protesters around to have waylaid Concorde from taking off for New Zealand at the intended time.

Another signal of Honour Culture times were the Skyhawks we then had which were able to escort Concorde over New Zealand’s skys. It will be many years before we again see such a powerful, confident, and ecstatic New Zealand mood as this. When it comes it will occur, as always before, during Honor Culture and Dignity Culture times.
