2009: New Zealand Sign Language Week

By AHNZ
This week is New Zealand Sign Language Week, est. 2009. The history of NZSL goes way back to 1880 when it was created as a rebel language against the Government who apprehended and captured deaf children.
“The, deaf mute, in his natural state is virtually nothing more nor less than a human plant. The work of the Sumner Institute consists in “the development of these plants into human beings.”- Press, 1905
“…the Sumner Institute had the oxygen of state funding coupled with legislative force to abduct deaf children from their parents nationwide. The School Attendance Act (1901) made special provision that children 7-16yo be snatched bodily unless their parent could satisfy The State that “efficient and suitable” education was being provided. This was far more punitive a compulsory kidnapping than non-deaf children faced under the same law. A real stolen generation!” – Brutal German Method Empowered by New Zealand Government, AHNZ
These days the Government still pays huge funds to the deaf, even though there is a population of just 5000 in New Zealand. Most of those are probably children or people who don’t follow politics….however the funding provides live translations of NZSL of every Government announcement.
You can’t spell ‘New Zealand’ without Alan
Alan Wendt (image below) is one of the COVID 6 and will doubtless be given another NZSL award for 2021 for translating propaganda for the Government. For 2020 he was joined by Jenn Gilbert, Wenda Walton, Rosie Henley, Melissa Sutton, and Angela Murray.
I like the fact that we know who the COVID 6 are. Nobody knows who the anonymous female mouthpiece is who does all of the Labour 6.0 voice-overs to the rest of us. She propagandises about car safety, ACC, COVID, and everything the Prime Minister wants you to hear. Her voice sounds like a Hollywood version of Jacinda Ardern but she’ll never get an Oscar. Very Kiwi accent but, actually, is probably a European or American voice actress contracted from her home studio in Los Angeles. Who bloody knows though?
