2010: Meet The Colemans

September 6, 2021

By AHNZ

Back in time, before  Progressive Enterprises handed the car keys of their New Zealand empire to General Manager of Everything, Kiri Hannifin, Countdown had another brand.

The supermarket promoted itself as friendly to the white nuclear family and they called this family the Colemans. Elizabeth Ryley, Hannifin’s predecessor, was also a Communications and opinion analytics spin doctor by trade (much like Jacinda Ardern.)

Ryley’s 2010 campaign, Meet the Colemans, was a family soap opera that turned the idea of product placement on its head. Instead of the product featuring in a human story and human world here were humans featuring in a world of products. The Colemans ate, slept, worked, met, bought, earned, parented etc. like little alien dolls in a house called the Countdown Universe.

According to Reddit, Phil Vaughan, Mr Coleman, also played the family father in the Australian version of the same campaign for Woolworths. For those who crossed the Tasman it seemed as if Mr Coleman had a second family on the sly in Australia and was cheating on Elisabeth Easther’s character!

By mid-2015 this Happy Families routine was given the boot, just as it had been in the 1960s. Ryley was out, Kiri Hannifin was in and reading the infometrics tea leaves of public opinion. Countdown Kiri put Countdown on a new bandwagon, the Woke Train. Labour 5.0’s old Spin Doctor pitched to Progressive Enterprises that under her command she could make them all very rich as the tide of Woke/SJW/Victimhood Culture swept in.

“Progressive Enterprises’ General Manager – Marketing & Communication Elizabeth Ryley says, “Following the lives of a family like the Colemans gives us the chance to show, in interesting and engaging ways, how Countdown always has the smart solution for the everyday needs of Kiwi families.”- MEET THE COLEMANS IN A NEW SOAP OPERA BY OGILVY AUCKLAND FOR COUNTDOWN SUPERMARKETS; Campaign Brief (2010)

Millennial Victimhood Culture (2016-2021)

Progressive Enterprises gave the keys to their Countdown kingdom to Kiri Hannifin and boy did she put her dark arts to work! Every Woke thing that was popular, as it became popular and before the public even knew it was popular, was being fronted by Kiri Hannifin and her team.

Kiri even put her old client Helen Clark into an anti-plastic bag campaign alongside Sam Neill and Jane Goodall! Little wonder Big Brother Countdown is perceived as the target for stabbings and stabbings again and mob stormings.

“Kiri completed her LLB and BA (Politics) at the University of Canterbury. She has worked in several legal areas including Treaty and public Law in New Zealand and company law in the United Kingdom. In the United Kingdom she also worked implementing European equality law before returning to New Zealand to work as a political advisor for the 5th Labour Government. She has been working around intimate partner violence since 2007. ” – The Daily Blog (2014)

The Woke Kiri Hannifin Countdown era must eventually end. So long as she is still making money for  Progressive Enterprises her job is safe but for how much longer?

The Victimhood Culture 5 year cycle is well over now and we’re into a Slave Culture time period. Kiri, like her Victimhood Culture peer, Jacinda Ardern, has been the right woman with the right culture and communications skills for this time in history. Both have been very successful and it’s an open question as to which woman has more money and power than the other. Neither are likely to be able to re-invent themselves for the coming era. It will be a sign that times have changed when the services of both Ardern and Hannifin are disposed of by their masters.

Labour 6.0 and Countdown have both gone Woke, will they go broke? My answer is that they will not because they will re-brand and shed these women leaders. That will be a messy process for Labour but no trouble at all for Progressive Brands who have proven this many times before by their many changing faces.

My prediction using the Theory of Moral Cultures is that the next political leadership dichotomy will resemble Honour Culture exponents such as Stuart Nash and Judith Collins. That was a prediction I made in September 2019 and we are already half way there since Collins took her place as the new leader.
