1988: Video Ezy

Video Ezy, an Australian video rental franchise, came to New Zealand in 1988. By 1999, when this TV advertisement (below) was made, they were in high demand as distributors of entertainment.

The easy answer as to their demise (c.2018) is that online distribution took over. However, why suppose that this industry leader could not have adapted? Instead, a younger DVD distribution franchise overtook them and then added streaming services. Netflix are the new sheriff in town now.
